"Vince Young is a Freak"

Or so says USC quarterback Matt Leinart after last night's stunning loss to the Texas Longhorns (and their freakish QB) in the Rose Bowl. His quote after the game was something like "well I still think we're the better team but when you have a freakish player like that....". Vince Young did what he did in last years Rose Bowl which is to run through defenses like they are macaroni (hold the cheese).

Frankly USC should have put a stranglehold on the game early on but they were a bit too arrogant and jacked up and made critical mistakes - forsaking an early gimme field goal by going for it on 4th and 1 (first quarter) and Heisman Trophy winner Reggie Bush's brainheaded move in trying to lateral the ball on Texas' 20 after he made an exhilerating backbreaking 35 - yard run. The MO was clearly theirs and they could have run all of the Longhorn fans out of the stadium by halftime - but they squandered it and let Vince Young and UT back in it to give them a chance in the end. In case you are living on another planet Texas won with 20 seconds left in the game on a 15-yard run on 4th and 5 by , yes, the freak. 41- 38. Sure would like that field goal right about now.

I, of course , am now incurring the wrath of all of my Texas friends who CAN'T BELIEVE I would root for USC against them. As I try to explain - while USC lost the National Championship last night, LA just lost their Super Bowl.

I was so on the fence about this one. I have no real reason to care about USC (except for their marching band's awesome role on Fleetwood Mac's album, "Tusk") and I have one very good reason to despise UT...I'm an Aggie.
I am...like it or not...a Texan. Not by birth, but I've spent almost all of my life here. And UT, our traditionally sworn enemy, does represent our state and our conference. On the other hand, the UT fans have been insufferable here. Really awful. And Vince Young talks so much smack that you just want to push him in front of a train. I was GLAD he didn't get the Heisman. GLAD, I tell you! I would have been happier if USC had won.

Did I spell Heisman wrong? I forgot to check.

I wish USC had won. But knew their cockiness would catch up to them eventually. USC now gets a taste of what they've done to so many other opponents throughout their streak.

Bottom Line - Texas did win. Matt Leinart, be a good sport and Shut up.

Well - and I'm an A&M alum, living in LA who has come to root for these guys (in some cases just because they are good) - so you know how I feel. I'm going to have to endure National Champs 2005 for the next ten years from my Longhorn friends. Yikes!!!!

Vince Young is a freak, and after last night's performance, I am a fan. And this Leinart kid rubs me the wrong way, yeah he's good, but he is no VY.

Hey remember he got knocked silly toward the end of the game- and i saw his comment on tape - he just could not believe what happened. He came back for his senior year turning down millions to start for the 49'rs for sure - and now it looks like he's headed to the Saints. NOW I really feel for him.

Oh, I think it was evident that the proper team won! Reggie who???? Texas was a little shaky at first but then became a freight train and ran all over that little team from California.

The only reason I was rooting for Reggie to not get hurt is that we may be getting him here. Our poor Texans need help. Shoot, we'd even take that Leinert, jerk or not. David Carr is easy on the eyes but he is not performing well....on the field.

Hey Rock,
Yep I took the blogger template "rounders" and just played around with it, alot of trial and error, alot. If you want you can copy and paste stuff from my source code or just get some ideas from it.

Yeah Simms is a babyface, but that guy has the poise of a seasoned vet, mucho moxy. I think it will take 60 minutes tomorrow to decide the skins game. Just watch out for the caddy and the A-train my friend. It is gonna be in the thirties in Tampa tomorrow night (rare) and we all know about the cold weather jinx of the Bucs, so I worry about that.
